Nuclear Power is Superior in Terms Both of Cost and Supply Stability

Since Japan has scarce energy resources, natural energy from solar light and wind is regarded as valuable potential domestic sources of energy. The fact that the environmental load imposed by these forms of energy is very small makes them especially attractive and Japan's power companies are working hard to help them to prevail. However, because these forms of energy suffer from a number of drawbacks such as lower energy density and much more areas required for facilities than nuclear power, they are cautiously positioned as complementary power sources.

Cost Comparison: Replacing a Nuclear Power Plant with New Energy

It is uneconomical and irrational to exclude nuclear energy
from power supply options. Being uneconomical
could simply mean that additional loads will be imposed
elsewhere in the environment.
