[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]
○ Total demand in the second half of fiscal 2000 was up 1.5% on last year to 413.1 billion kWh across the ten companies.

○ Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting and Commercial demand posted rises of 1.5% and 2.3%, respectively. The rises were recorded despite increased demand for heating caused by lower tenperatures in eastern Japan, and were due to last year having an extra leap-year day.

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand
Large Industrial Demand in the second half of fiscal 2000 was up for the third consecutive half term, rising by 1.6%.

The increase resulted from firm performance in the non-ferrous metals and machinery sectors, and came despite a leveling off of growth in the ceramics and paper& pulp sectors.
