[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]
○ Total demand in fiscal 2000 was up 2.6% on last year to 838.0 billion kWh across the ten companies.

○ Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting and Commercial Demand posted rises of 2.6% and 3.0%, respectively. The increases were due to increased demand for cooling and heating caused by higher temperatures in July and August in western Japan, and low winter temperatures in eastern Japan.

Large Industrial Demand in 2000 was up for the second consecutive year, rising by 2.8%.

The increase resulted from firm performance in most industrial sectors, with particularly strong performance being noted in the steel and machinery sectors.
