Electricity Demand in
April 2000 (Confirmed Report)
Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)
o Demand for electricity in April was up 1.8% on the same month the previous
year to 66.25 billion kWh.
o Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting Demand (flat, 21.05 billion kWh)
Commercial Demand (up 2.5%, 11.70 billion kWh)
Although commercial demand posted a rise of 2.5%, a shorter meter reading
period resulted in flat demand for lighting.
(Reference) Large Industrial Demand
Demand from large industrial users was up for the ninth consecutive month,
increasing by 3.5% to 21.07 billion kWh.
The increase resulted from firm performance in the steel and paper &
pulp sectors.
