Electricity Demand in May 2000 (Confirmed Report)
Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)
o Demand for electricity in May was up 2.7% on the same month the previous
year to 62.02 billion kWh.
o Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting Demand (up 1.1%, 18.22 billion kWh)
Commercial Demand (up 2.5%, 10.94 billion kWh)
Although commercial demand posted a rise of 2.5%, a shorter meter reading
period resulted in a small rise of 1.1% for lighting.
(Reference) Large Industrial Demand
Demand from large industrial users was up for the tenth consecutive month,
increasing by 4.7% to 21.48 billion kWh.
The increase resulted from firm performance in most sectors except textile.
The steel sector recorded a double-digit increase.
