Electricity Demand in August 2000 (Confirmed Report)
Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)
o Demand for electricity in August was up 4.7% on the same month the previous
year to 80.08 billion kWh.
o Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting Demand (up 4.7%, 24.10 billion kWh)
Commercial Demand (up 4.9%, 16.74 billion kWh)
Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 4.7% and 4.9%, respectively.
The increases were due to higher temperatures in western Japan in July
and in August.
(Reference) Large Industrial Demand
Demand from large industrial users was up for the thirteenth consecutive
month, rising by 5.0% to 23.02 billion kWh. The increase resulted from
firm performance in most industrial sectors, with particularly strong performance
being noted in the steel and the machinery sectors.
