Electricity Demand in September 2000 (Confirmed Report)
Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)
o Demand for electricity in September was up 2.3% on the same month the
previous year to 79.17 billion kWh.
o Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting Demand (up 3.8%, 24.16 billion kWh)
Commercial Demand (up 1.9%, 16.06 billion kWh)
Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 3.8% and 1.9%, respectively.
The increases were due to increased demand for cooling caused by higher
temperatures in western Japan from mid-August to early September, and a
longer meter-reading period.
(Reference) Large Industrial Demand (up 1.5%, 23.30 billion kWh)
Although demand from large industrial users posted a rise of only 1.5%,
it marked the fourteenth consecutive month of increased demand. The relatively
small increase was due to sluggish performance in the chemical sector,
coupled with a leveling off of growth in the machinery sector.
