Electricity Demand in October 2000 (Confirmed Report)
Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)
o Demand for electricity in October was down 3.2% on the same month the
previous year to 66.26 billion kWh.
o Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting Demand (down 9.1%, 17.62 billion kWh)
Commercial Demand (down 2.4%, 13.08 billion kWh)
Commercial and lighting demand posted decreases of 9.1% and 2.4%, respectively.
The decline were due to decreased demand for cooling caused by lower temperatures
in western Japan from mid-August to the end of September, and a shorter
meter-reading period.
(Reference) Large Industrial Demand (up 2.6%, 22.98 billion kWh)
Demand from large industrial users was up the fifteenth consecutive month,
rising by 2.6%. The increase was due to firm performance in the non-ferrous
metals and machinery sector, despite of poor performance in the textile,
paper & pulp and chemical sector.
