Electricity Demand in January 2001 (Confirmed Report)
Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)
o Demand for electricity in January was up 3.8% on the same month the previous
year to 74.22 billion kWh.
o Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting Demand (up 3.5%, 26.92 billion kWh)
Commercial Demand (up 5.3%, 12.92 billion kWh)
Commercial and lighting demand posted increase of 5.3% and 3.5%, respectively.
The increases were due to increased demand for heating caused by lower
temperatures nationwide from early January to mid January, despite of a
shorter meter-reading period.
(Reference) Large Industrial Demand (up 3.8%, 21.16 billion kWh)
Demand from large industrial users was up for the eighteenth consecutive
month, rising by 3.8%. The increase was due to firm performance in the
most of the sectors. Performance in the non-ferrous sector was particularly
good.
