Total demand in April was down 1.8% on last year to 65.1 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting demand posted a decline of 4.7% due to decreased demand for heating caused by higher temperatures from mid-March to mid-April, and a shorter meter-reading period.
Commercial demand posted only a small rise of 1.9%.

The decline was due to generally sluggish industrial production that depressed performance in all sectors.
