Total demand in June was up 0.2% on last year to 64.7 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Commercial demand and lighting demand posted rises of 3.0% and 2.1% respectively. The increases were due to increased demand for cooling, caused by higher temperatures in June in Western Japan.

Large industrial user demand in June was down for the fifth consecutive month, declining by 2.3%.

The decline was due to generally sluggish industrial production that depressed performance in all sectors, with particularly sluggish performance noted in the steel sector.
