Total demand in September was down 1.8% on last year to 72.7 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Commercial and lighting demand both posted declines of 4.0% and 12.0% respectively. The declines were due to decreased demand for cooling, caused by relatively low temperatures in August and September, and a shorter meter-reading period.

Large industrial user demand in September was down for the eighth consecutive month, falling by 6.0%. The decline was due to generally sluggish industrial production that depressed performance in all sectors, with particularly poor results noted in the steel and the non-ferrous sectors.
