Electricity Demand in September 2001(Confirmed Report)

Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)

　○　Total demand in September was down 1.8% on last year to 72.71 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

　○　Commercial and lighting demand both posted declines of 4.0% and 12.1% respectively. The declines were due to decreased demand for cooling, caused by relatively low temperatures in August and September, and a shorter meter-reading period.

　・　Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand Lighting Demand (down 12.1%, 21.24 billion kWh)

　・　Commercial Demand (down 4.0%, 15.42 billion kWh)

　Large industrial user demand in September was down for the eighth consecutive month, falling by 6.0%. The decline was due to generally sluggish industrial production that depressed performance in all sectors, with particularly poor results noted in the steel and the non-ferrous sectors.
