Total demand in October was down 2.1% on last year to 64.9 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Although commercial demand posted a decline of 0.8% due to decreased demand for air conditioning caused by higher temperatures in September, a longermeter-reading period resulted in a small rise of 1.1% for lighting.

Large industrial user demand in October was down for the ninth consecutive month, falling by 4.7%.

The decline was due to generally sluggish industrial production that depressed performance in all sectors, with particularly poor results noted in the steel and the non-ferrous sectors..
