Total demand in December was down 0.4% on last year to 66.7 billion kWh
across the 10 companies.
Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Commercial and lighting demand both posted rises of 1.9% and 4.7% respectively.
The rises were due to increased demand for heating, caused by lower temperatures
from mid-December to the end of December, and a longermeter-reading period.

Large industrial user demand in December was down for the eleventh
consecutive month, falling by 6.0%.
The decline was due to generally sluggish industrial production that depressed
performance in all sectors, with particularly poor results noted in the
steel and the non-ferrous sectors.
