Electricity Demand in April 2002 (Bulletin)
(May 22, 2002)
[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]
Total demand in April was down for the eighth consecutive months, falling
by 2.8% on last year to 63.3 billion kWh across the 10 companies.
Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Commercial and lighting demand both posted declines of 1.1% and 3.8% respectively.
The declines were due to decreased demand for heating, caused by higher
temperatures from March to the beginning of April. The decline of lighting
demand was due to a shorter meter-reading period.
