Total demand in May was up for the first time in nine months, increasing
by 0.7% on last year to 63.4 billion kWh across the 10 companies.
Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Commercial and lighting demand both posted increases of 0.8% and 3.4% respectively.
The increase in lighting demand was due to a longer meter-reading period.

Large industrial user demand in May was down for the sixteenth consecutive
month, falling by 0.4%. The decline resulted from poor performance in all
sectors except steel sector.
