Electricity Demand in July 2002 (Confirmed Report)

Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)

　○　Total demand in July was down 4.1% on last year to 70.62 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

　○　Commercial and lighting demand both posted declines of 3.9% and 7.3% respectively, due to decreased demand for cooling caused by lower temperatures from late june to mid-July.

　　　・　Lighting Demand (down 7.3%, 18.94 billion kWh)

　　　・　Commercial Demand (down 3.9%, 14.65 billion kWh)

　○　Large industrial user demand in July was up for the first time in eighteen manths, increasing by 0.4%. The increase was due to the fact that performance in all sectors except textiles, ceramics and non-ferrous metals was as good or better than in the previous.
