○ Total demand in August was up 2.7% on last year to 83.4 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

○Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Commercial and lighting demand both posted increases of 2.0% and 4.8% respectively, due to increased demand for cooling caused by higher temperatures in August in eastern Japan, and a longer meter-reading period for lighting.

Large industrial user demand in August was up for the second consecutive month, increasing by 2.2%.

The increase was due to the fact that performance in all sectors except textiles and ceramics sectors was better than in the previous year.
