Electricity Demand in December 2002 (Confirmed Report)

Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)

　○　Total demand in December was up 2.1% on last year to 68.1 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

　○　Although commercial demand posted an increase of 4.8%, due to increased demand for heating caused by lower temperatures in November, a shorter meter-reading period resulted in a decline of 0.4% for lighting.

　　　・　Lighting Demand (down 0.4%, 21.58 billion kWh)

　　　・　Commercial Demand (up 4.8%, 12.82 billion kWh)

　○　Large industrial user demand in December was up for the sixfh consecutive month, increasing by 4.0%. The increase resulted from firm performance in all sectors except the textile sector.
