*Total demand in October was up 2.5% to 67.9 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
*Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 2.8% and 7.4% respectively, due to increased demand for cooling caused by higher temperatures in mid-September. A longer meter-reading period also increased in lightning demand.

Large industrial user demand in October was down for the first time in two months, decreasing by 0.6%.

The decline resulted from poor performance in all sectors except the chemical, non-ferrous and machinery sectors.
