Electricity Demand in the Second Half of Fiscal 2004 (Bulletin)

2005/4/20
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in the second half of FY2004 was up 2.0% on last year to 427.3 billion kWh across the ten companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 1.9% and 3.0%, respectively. The increases were due to increased demand for heating caused by lower temperatures in February and March.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in the second half of FY2004 was up for the third consecutive half term, rising by 1.6%. The rise was due to firm performance in all sectors except the textiles, the paper & pulp and the ceramics sectors.
