[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in FY2004 was up 3.7% on last year to 865.4 billion kWh across the ten companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Commercial and lighting demand posted rises of 4.2% and 5.0%, respectively. The increases were due to increased demand for cooling caused by record high summer temperatures.

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in FY2004 was up for the third consecutive year, rising by 2.8%. The increase resulted from firm performance in all sectors except textiles, the paper & pulp and the ceramics sectors, with particularly strong performance being noted in the machinery sector.
