Electricity Demand in March 2004 (Confirmed Report)
2004/4/28
FEPC
[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]
Total demand in March was up 0.7% on last year to 70.1 billion kWh across the 10 companies.
(Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand)
- Lighting Demand (down 0.2%, 22.62 billion kWh)
- Commercial Demand (up 2.4%, 13.05 billion kWh)
Relatively warm weather from mid February to the end of March depressed demand for heating, resulting in a decline of 0.2% in lighting demand. Commercial demand, on the other hand, despite depressed demand for heating due to higher temperatures, was aided by the extra leap-year day in February and posted a rise of 2.4 %.
(Reference)
- Large Industrial Demand (up 1.3%, 22.21 billion kWh)
Large industrial user demand in March was up for the third consecutive month, increasing by 1.3%. The rise was due to firm performance in the machinery sector.
