Electricity Demand in April 2004 (Bulletin)

2004/5/21
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in April was up 2.7% to 69.0 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 0.6% and 5.3% respectively. The increase in lighting demand resulted from a longer meter-reading period, which overcame decreased demand for heating caused by higher temperatures in March.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in April was up for the fourth consecutive month, increasing by 2.2%. The rise was due to firm performance in the machinery, the chemicals, the steel and the non-ferrous metals sectors.
