Electricity Demand in April 2004 (Confirmed Report)

2004/5/31
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in April was up 2.7% on last year to 69.0 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

(Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand)

Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 0.6% and 5.3% respectively. The increase in lighting demand resulted from a longer meter-reading period, which overcame decreased demand for heating caused by higher temperatures in March.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference)

Large industrial user demand in April was up for the fourth consecutive month, increasing by 2.2%. The rise was due to firm performance in the chemicals, the steel and the non-ferrous metals sectors.
