Electricity Demand in June 2004 (Bulletin)

2004/7/16
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in June was up 3.8% to 66.7 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 5.2% and 2.6% respectively. The increases were due to increased demand for cooling caused by higher temperatures from May to June.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in June was up for the sixth consecutive month, increasing by 4.6%. The rise was due to firm performance in the machinery, the steel, the chemicals, the non-ferrous metals and the textiles sectors. Performance in the machinery and the steel sectors was particularly good.
