Electricity Demand in July 2004 (Bulletin)

2004/8/20
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in July was up 12.5% to 77.5 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 12.6% and 17.8% respectively, reflecting the marked difference in cooling demand between last summer, which was unseasonably cool, and this summer, which was the hottest on record.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in July was up for the seventh consecutive month, increasing by 7.6%. The rise was due to firm performance in all sectors except the paper & pulp sector. Performance in the machinery, the chemicals and the steel sectors was particularly good.
