Electricity Demand in August 2004 (Confirmed Report)
2004/9/30
FEPC
[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]
Total demand in August was up 10.2% on last year to 82.2 billion kWh across the 10 companies.
(Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand)
- Lighting Demand (up 13.4%, 25.72 billion kWh)
- Commercial Demand (up 15.9%, 13.27 billion kWh)
Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 15.9% and 13.4% respectively. The increase reflected the marked difference in cooling demand between last summer, which was unseasonably cool, and this summer, which was the hottest on record, despite a shorter meter-reading period.
Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).
(Reference)
- Large Industrial Demand (up 4.5%, 22.88 billion kWh)
Large industrial user demand in August was up for the eighth consecutive month, increasing by 4.5%. The rise was due to firm performance in all sectors except the paper & pulp and the textiles sector. Performance in the machinery and the chemicals sectors was particularly good.
