Electricity Demand in October 2004 (Bulletin)

2004/11/19
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in October was up 2.3% to 69.5 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 3.3% and 2.2% respectively. The increases were due to increased demand for cooling caused by higher temperatures in late September.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in October was up for the tenth consecutive month, increasing by 2.3%. The rise was due to firm performance in all sectors except the textiles, the paper & pulp and ceramics sectors. Performance in the steel sector was particularly good.
