Electricity Demand in December 2004 (Bulletin)

2005/1/21
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in December was up 1.4% to 67.4 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Despite decreased demand for heating caused by higher temperatures from early to mid-December, lighting demand posted an increase of 2.6% due to a longer meter-reading period. Commercial demand, however, posted a decline of 0.4%.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in December was up for the twelfth consecutive month, increasing by 1.8%. The rise was due to firm performance in the chemicals, the steel, the machinery and the non-ferrous metals sectors.
