Electricity Demand in February 2005 (Bulletin)

2005/3/18
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in February was up 2.3% to 75.2 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 2.5% and 4.9% respectively. The increase in lighting demand was due to increased demand for heating caused by lower temperatures from mid to early February.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in February was down 0.1% on last year. It was the first decline in 14 months, and was primarily due to February having an extra leap-year-day last year, despite bullish performance in the machinery and the chemical sectors.
