Electricity Demand in February 2005(Confirmed Report)
2005/3/31
FEPC
[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]
Total demand in February was up 2.3% on last year to 75.3 billion kWh across the 10 companies.
(Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand)
- Lighting Demand (up 4.9%, 26.48 billion kWh)
- Commercial Demand (up 2.5%, 11.13 billion kWh)
Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 2.5% and 4.9% respectively. The increase in lighting demand was due to increased demand for heating caused by lower temperatures from mid to early February.
Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).
(Reference)
- Large Industrial Demand (down 0.1%, 21.03 billion kWh)
Large industrial user demand in February was down 0.1% on last year. It was the first decline in 14 months, and was primarily due to February having an extra leap-year-day last year, despite bullish performance in the machinery and the chemical sectors.
