Electricity Demand in March 2005 (Bulletin)

2005/4/20
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in March was up 4.5% to 73.2 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 3.0% and 8.9% respectively. The increases were due to increased demand for heating caused by lower temperatures in the latter parts of February and March.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in March was up for the first time in 2 months increasing by 1.7%. The rise was due to firm performance in all sectors except the textiles and the ceramics sectors. Performance in the chemicals sector was particularly good.
