led to a rise of only 0.8% to 71.21 billion kWh across the ten companies.
Breakdown
Hydro
Flow rates were below average, leading to a decline in hydro power generation.
4.62 billion kWh were generated, down 9.0%.
Thermal
Decreased use of hydro and nuclear power led to a rise of 3.5% in thermal
generation. 32.92 billion kWh were generated.
Nuclear
The capacity utilization rate at all companies was down compared to last
year, leading to a 9.8% decline to 23.77 billion kWh. Capacity utilization
rates in 2000 and 1999 were 75.5% and 83.8% respectively (Japan Atomic
Power Company figures excluded).
2. State of the Companies
Business results at all the companies except Kansai and Kyushu were bullish.

Combined peak load for the ten companies was 130.403 million kWh (recorded
at 15:00, 12 October), down 5.2% on last year.
Flow Rates
Flow rates at all the companies were average or above average. As a result,
the flow rate across the nine companies was 93.4%.
