Electricity Generated and Purchased in November 2001 (Bulletin)
i2001^12^12j

1. Nationwide Summary
Depressed large industrial user demand led to a decline of 0.8% to 70.41 billion kWh across the ten companies.

Breakdown

Hydro
Flow fates were well below those of last year, leading to a drop in hydro power generation. 4.04 billion kWh were generated, down 19.7%.

Thermal
Despite the overall decline in generated and purchased results, decreased use of hydro and nuclear power led to a 4.6% rise in thermal generation. 32.16 billion kWh were generated.

Nuclear
The capacity utilization rate at all companies was down compared to last year, resulting in a 3.6% decline in nuclear power generation. 25.18 billion kWh were generated.

Capacity utilization rates in 2001 and 2000 were 82.2% and 85.8% respectively (Japan Atomic Power Company figures excluded).

2. State of the Companies

Business results at most of the companies were sluggish due to depressed industrial demand.

Monthly Peak Load
Combined peak load for the ten companies was 130.248 million kWh (recorded at 18:00, 27 November), down 0.8% on last year.

Flow Rates
Although Chugoku and Shikoku recorded above-average flow rate, rates at the rest of the companies were below-averaged or average. As a result, the flow rate across the nine companies was 93.6%.
