Concerning the Completion of the Twelfth Return Shipment of Vitrified Waste from France to Japan

Unloading of the twelfth shipment of vitrified waste to the Vitrified Waste Storage Center was completed today. The waste is owned by Tokyo Electric Power Company, Chubu Electric Power Company, Hokuriku Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company and Kyushu Electric Power Company.

 

"Pacific Sandpiper," the ship transporting the vitrified waste, arrived at the port of Mutsu-Ogawara at 12:47 on 27 March 2006.

 

Unloading of the transport casks began at 9:26 and ended at 13:26 today. Overland transport vehicles loaded with vitrified waste began leaving the port at 12:05 for the Vitrified Waste Storage Center in Rokkasho-Mura. Overland transport was completed at 15:39. The total number of canisters received today was 130 canisters (6 casks).
