Unloading of the seventh shipment of vitrified waste to the Vitrified Waste Storage Center was completed today. The waste is owned by Tokyo Electric Power Company, Chubu Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Chugoku Electric Power Company, Shikoku Electric Power Company and Kyushu Electric Power Company.
"Pacific Sandpiper," the ship transporting the vitrified waste, arrived at the port of Mutsu-Ogawara at 10:26 on 22 January 2002.
Unloading of the transport casks began at 8:44 and ended at 11:30 today. Overland transport vehicles loaded with vitrified waste began leaving the port at 13:40 for the Vitrified Waste Storage Center in Rokkasho-Mura. Overland transport was completed at 14:25. The total number of canisters received today was 152 canisters (6 casks).
