Concerning the Completion of the Fifth Return Shipment of Vitrified Waste from Europe to Japan

Unloading of the fifth shipment of vitrified waste to the Vitrified Waste Storage Centre was completed today. The waste is owned by Tokyo Electric Power Company, Chubu Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Chugoku Electric Power Company and Kyushu Electric Power Company.

 

"Pacific Swan," the ship transporting the vitrified waste, arrived at the port of Mutsu-Ogawara at 8:41. Unloading of the transport casks began at 12:12 and ended at 14:43. Overland transport vehicles loaded with vitrified waste began leaving the port at 15:40 for the Vitrified Waste Storage Centre in Rokkasho-Mura. Overland transport was completed at 16:47. The total number of canisters received today was 104 canisters (4 casks).
