Demand in November 2000 (Confirmed Report)
Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)
o Demand for electricity in November was up 4.4% on the same month the
previous year to 65.08 billion kWh.
o Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand
Lighting Demand (up 7.8%, 19.34 billion kWh)
Commercial Demand (up 3.0%, 11.73 billion kWh)
Commercial and lighting demand posted increase of 3.0% and 7.8%, respectively.
The increases were due to increased demand for heating caused by lower
temperatures in eastern Japan from mid-November to the end of November,
and a longer meter-reading period.
(Reference) Large Industrial Demand (up 2.8%, 22.14 billion kWh)
Demand from large industrial users was up for the sixteenth consecutive
month, rising by 2.8%. The increase was due to firm performance in the
non-ferrous metals and machinery sector, despite of poor performance in
the textile and chemical sector.
