Electricity Demand in February 2003 (Confirmed Report)

Demand Overview (Total across the 10 Power Companies)

　○　Total demand in February was up 3.9% on last year to 72.3 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

　○　Commercial and lighting demand both posted increases of 4.9% and 4.8% respectively, due to increased demand for heating caused by lower temperatures in January and February.

　　　・　Lighting Demand (up 4.8%, 24.92 billion kWh)

　　　・　Commercial Demand (up 4.9%, 13.93 billion kWh)

　○　Large industrial user demand in February was up for the eighth consecutive month, increasing by 3.2%. The increase resulted from firm performance in all sectors except the textile and ceramics sectors. Performance in the chemicals and steel sectors was particularly good.
