Electricity Demand in September 2004 (Bulletin)

2004/10/20
FEPC

[Demand Overview (Total Across the 10 Power Companies)]

Total demand in September was up 2.5% to 77.9 billion kWh across the 10 companies.

Demand Excluding Extra High Voltage Demand

Commercial and lighting demand posted increases of 1.8% and 3.3% respectively. The increase in lighting demand resulted from a longer meter-reading period, which overcame decreased demand for cooling caused by lower temperatures from late August to early September.

Note: Year-on-year changes in commercial power calculated by adjusting figures for the same period one year ago to match 2004 demand categories (for reference only).

(Reference) Large Industrial Demand

Large industrial user demand in September was up for the ninth consecutive month, increasing by 2.9%. The rise was due to firm performance in all sectors except the textiles, the paper & pulp and ceramics sectors. Performance in the machinery sector was particularly good.
