Looking beyond the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, ‘Electric Power Pavilion: Eggs of Possibilities’ showcases the potential of various forms of energy from the unique perspective of the electric power industry.
It's important for our future to seek, collect, and nurture the possibilities that energy provides. Here you can enjoy encountering the energy of the future together with special egg-shaped devices. The pavilion has been expertly designed so that you can have fun with your whole body experiencing games that focus on the distinctive features of energy, and take home a fresh realization of the potential of energy, which really is right beside us supporting our everyday lives.
We believe that countless visitors—including the children who uphold coming generations—will perceive a future that is shaped by the possibilities of energy. We hope your experience in the Electric Power Pavilion will provide you with amazing memories.

– Eggs of Possibilities
Towards a shining society
where the possibilities of
energy open up the future.
To achieve a sustainable society while coexisting with all the different life on Earth, we need a stable supply of energy and to achieve carbon neutrality.
The key is the energy of possibilities
At the Electric Power Pavilion - Eggs of Possibilities, you can learn in a fun way about around thirty types of energy that could pave the way to the future. These include energies that utilizes the power of nature, energies hidden in our daily lives, energy technologies that are close to practical application, and innovative energy technologies that may have the potential to change the world

A Distinctive Egg-shaped Exterior
The concept behind our pavilion, Eggs of Possibilities, is expressed in its design Inside, the main axis is titled 15 degrees to ensure a huge space, while over 2,100 steel frames form Voronoi diagrams egg shape. A fireproof membrane is applied on top of it, making 352 Voronoi diagrams in 60 different types stand out.
The silver film represents future possibilities. And light is taken in from a range of angles, so the appearance changes in different ways depending on weather or time of day. It harmonizes with nature and the surrounding environment

- The exterior surface has a Voronoi design
that evokes a sense of diversity and the near future.
-
- 2
- The egg-shaped structure is formed of more than 2,100 steel girders. It is two stories high, and the main axis is inclined at a 15-degree angle to obtain a large interior space.
-
- 3
- A variety of events can be held
on the adjoining outdoor stage.
-
- 4
- Thanks to its silver coating, the exterior of the pavilion changes its appearance depending on the season and time of day.

- Scrap glass from solar panels has been recycled as an aggregate material for concrete paving blocks around the building.
Instead of having a smooth outer surface, mock-ups were used in numerous tests to see how much the ridges in the Voronoi pattern could be emphasized.
352 Voronoi membranes with 60 different patterns were stuck together to create rolls, and the end result was achieved by covering the inner steel girders with these rolls, which craftspeople tied together with cord one by one.
More than 2,100 steel girders of various lengths were fitted together to create the enormous egg shape.
You can see the complex construction of the pavilion from the dividing lines in the egg shape.
The outer shell has a three-layered structure consisting of the main steel girders, the steel girders supporting the membranes, and the material in the membranes themselves.
Events held on the outdoor stage, which has seating for around 100 people, include panel discussions on the themes of energy and carbon neutrality, and events organized in collaboration with science museums, universities, and companies.
"Pavilion Day" is scheduled to take place on May 10. It will feature energy-related talk events, scientific experiments, shadow plays, and more.
The surface design continues through 360°. It captures light from all angles.
On a clear day, it appears whiter, while in the evening it may be orange.
It also reflects the large roof and lattice-like construction of the adjoining Grand Ring, and sometimes resembles a huge egg emerging from the darkness...
Depending on the weather, the time of day, or where it is viewed from, the pavilion has a multitude of expressions for you to enjoy.
The ground around the pavilion (approx. 1,000 m2) is covered with interlocking blocks developed by the Hokuriku Electric Power Company, which utilize scrap glass from solar panels as an aggregate material.
The addition of fly ash (fine powdered ash left over when coal is burned at as coal-fired power plant), which is produced by the same company,
prevents the deterioration that normally occurs when glass is included as a component of concrete.
Some of the blocks also contain recycled Noto roof tiles generated due to damage from the Noto Peninsula earthquake.

This pavilion uses the following ways to preserve the environment
-
- Interlocking blocks made from recycled waste glass from solar panels (Hokuriku Electric Power Company)
- The paving stones within the pavilion site are interlocking blocks that incorporate waste glass from solar panels, the disposal of which in mass quantities is becoming a social issue. Some of these blocks also include recycled roofing tiles from the damage caused by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake
-
- Al-powered energy management system (Kinden Corporation)
- Optimizes operation of air conditioning equipment by using Al connected to monitoring data from that equipment stored on the cloud. The aim is to save about 20% in air-conditioning costs for multiple units within large buildings
-
- Smart cubicles using vegetable-based insulating oil
(Kanden Engineering Corporation) - A system to remotely provide security for power-receiving equipment. Its transformers use environmentally-friendly vegetable-based insulating oil (Sun-Ohm ECO) made from rapeseed oil
- Smart cubicles using vegetable-based insulating oil
-
- Device shell material made from recycled plastic (Daiichi Seikosha Co.,Ltd.)
- Development of original materials for reducing plastic use and reusing waste materials. The top parts include 5% eggshell、and the bottom parts include 15% scallop shell
-
- Recycling uniforms
- Uniforms, made of a recycled polyester material, which after use will be processed into high-quality solid fuel through the ECOLICE uniform recycling system, then provided to paper and other companies

-
- The design is unified with gray-based monotone colors, which harmonize with the exterior of the pavilion.
- The designs incorporate a Voronoi pattern, which is formed by combining various flat surfaces.
- Geometric patterns resembling Voronoi diagrams also exist in nature, such as in the patterns on a giraffe or on the wings of a dragonfly.
-
- diversity Expression of various possibilities
-
- The overshirts have unique patterns that each differ depending on where the fabric has been cut.
- Staff members of various ages, genders, and body types will wear uniforms of a different style to express the pavilion’s theme of various possibilities.
