○ We understand that the Japanese government’s policy is to utilize nuclear power plants whose safety has been confirmed, and to firmly maintain the nuclear fuel cycle.
○ Concerning the program to utilize plutonium recovered at the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant, we will develop and announce the plutonium utilization program by the time the recovery of plutonium is resumed at the plant based on the likely timing of restarting the nuclear power plants of each electric power company, and also the timing and other factors related to starting operation of the reprocessing plant itself.
Our plan was not to complete the development of the plutonium utilization program by the end of this month, and it is not true that we abandoned the program.
