The Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan

Tokyo Electric Power Holdings' Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit 6 commenced commercial operations today.
We believe this reflects the efforts of TEPCO Holdings and its contractors implementing various measures while putting safety first, as well as carefully communicating these measures to the local community. I want to take this opportunity to express my respects to TEPCO Holdings, the siting municipalities, and all those involved.
This commercial operation of the station is very significant from the perspectives of increasing Japan's energy self-sufficiency rate, securing a stable supply of electricity, and realizing carbon neutrality. We ask that TEPCO Holdings continue to take measures for further increasing safety and for the stable operation of the station.
Considering electricity demand is expected to grow with the expansion and construction of data centers and semiconductor factories, sustainable use of nuclear power, now and in the future, is crucial.
Going forward, in order to maximally utilize nuclear power, the electricity industry and related sectors will come together to implement measures to secure a higher level of safety, while appropriately addressing new regulatory requirements.
The industry will continue to provide support to the plants aiming for restart through our Restart Acceleration Task Force activities.
