Concerning the Completion of the Eleventh Return Shipment of Vitrified Waste from Europe to Japan

Unloading of the eleventh shipment of vitrified waste to the Vitrified Waste Storage Center was completed today. The waste is owned by Hokkaido Electric Power Company, Tokyo Electric Power Company, Chubu Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Kyushu Electric  Power Company and Japan Atomic Power Company.

 

"Pacific Sandpiper," the ship transporting the vitrified waste, arrived at the port of Mutsu-Ogawara at 12:14 on 23 March 2006.

 

Unloading of the transport casks began at 7:20 and ended at 11:07 today. Overland transport vehicles loaded with vitrified waste began leaving the port at 9:25 for the Vitrified Waste Storage Center in Rokkasho-Mura. Overland transport was completed at 13:16. The total number of canisters received today was 164 canisters (7 casks).
