Concerning the Completion of the Ninth Return Shipment of Vitrified Waste from Europe to Japan

Unloading of the ninth shipment of vitrified waste to the Vitrified Waste Storage Center was completed today. The waste is owned by Tohoku Electric Power Company, Tokyo Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Chugoku Electric Power Company and Shikoku Electric Power Company.

 

"Pacific Sandpiper," the ship transporting the vitrified waste, arrived at the port of Mutsu-Ogawara at 7:00. Unloading of the transport casks began at 10:45 and ended at 13:51. Overland transport vehicles loaded with vitrified waste began leaving the port at 15:40 for the Vitrified Waste Storage Center in Rokkasho-Mura. Overland transport was completed at 16:28. The total number of canisters received today was 132 canisters (5 casks).
