Unloading of the sixth shipment of vitrified waste to the Vitrified Waste Storage Centre was completed today. The waste is owned by Tokyo Electric Power Company, Chubu Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Kyushu Electric Power Company and Japan Atomic Power Company.
"Pacific Swan," the ship transporting the vitrified waste, arrived at the port of Mutsu-Ogawara at 11:46 on 20 February 2001.
Unloading of the transport casks began at 7:33 and ended at 12:26 today. Overland transport vehicles loaded with vitrified waste began leaving the port at 14:40 for the Vitrified Waste Storage Centre in Rokkasho-Mura. Overland transport was completed at 15:33. The total number of canisters received today was 192 canisters (8 casks).
