Concerning the Transport Ship Pacific Swan's Postponement of Entry to Harbor

I was informed that the governor of Aomori prefecture has stated that he is not in a position to allow the docking of the transport ship, "Pacific Swan" to the port of Mutsu-Ogawara.

This denial of permission to dock, in spite of the efforts of concerned parties in Japan, Britain and France to proceed with safe, careful shipment, and the understanding and cooperation of relevant countries, is a great disappointment.

The nuclear fuel cycle business is crucial to the development of nuclear energy in our country. I eagerly look forward to the docking of the ship and the intake of the waste it carries, and hope that both will be realized with all possible speed.
